Why Cats Sleep More Than Humans
Cats are crepuscular — meaning they're most active at dawn and dusk. Their sleep patterns are influenced by:
1. Evolution
In the wild, cats are ambush predators. They conserve energy for short bursts of hunting, then rest for long periods. Even though your cat gets fed from a bowl, that instinct remains.
2. Age
- Kittens: 20 hours — growing requires massive energy
- Adults: 12-16 hours
- Seniors: 18-20 hours — aging bodies need more rest
3. Weather
Cats sleep more on rainy or cold days. Just like humans, they prefer to stay cozy when the weather isn't ideal.
4. Boredom
